Leroy Morishita, interim president of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, since July 1, was appointed appointed Wednesday to the full position.

The CSU Board of Trustees selected Morishita as the fifth president in the Hayward school’s 55-year history.

“I am both excited and confident that together we can take Cal State Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ to a new level of excellence, inclusion and distinction,” Morishita said in a press release.

The Fresno native and Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ resident came to CSU Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ after 29 years at San Francisco State University, including stints as executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Morishita replaces Mohammad Qayoumi, who left the school to become president of San Jose State University.
