The Online Single Subject Teaching Credential prepares you to teach a specific subject in California middle and high schools (grades 6-12). The full program runs online, with supervised fieldwork at a school site near you. It's built for two main audiences:

• Career-changers who hold a bachelor's degree and want to move into teaching.
• Current educators — substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, and intern-track teachers — who need a clear-credential pathway that fits a working schedule.

You'll graduate ready to recommend for a Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Choose the subject you'll be authorized to teach. You'll need to verify subject-matter competence either by passing the appropriate CSET exam or completing a Commission-approved subject-matter program.
